 In addition to lime, The Ellis plant made portland cement, which was used entirely on site to make pre-cast concrete products - notably paving slabs and, as here, pipe. After 1929, the plant's cement was bought from other, larger suppliers. |

Enlarging the photograph shows a lot of points of interest around Barrow on Soar, which was my original home. The LMS railway shown, was the old Midland main line from London St Pancras until just before this photograph was taken in 1923. |
